TV Shows and great lecture

The music from the credits of The Wire is always the same song, "Way Down In The Hole", but the singer is different from a season to the other.

I recently read a tweet from Eric Scherer saying that the university of Harvard had recently set a new class studying the the famous HBO TV show The Wire. This TV Show is one of those greate HBO product, such as The Sopranos, Six Feet Under and Oz.

It is divided in 5 seasons and each season has a particular subject (even though each subject is always linked to the others) : drug dealing in Balitmore's black ghetto (1), Irish dockers from Baltimore taking benefits from their position to make some illegal business (2), the conquest of the mayor office (3), the children in the ghetto (4) and at last, journalists(5).

Every season is shot from different points of viwes : the police's with Mc Nulty's team, the black ghetto's with Marlo Stanfield and Barksdale's gang fighting each other for territory, the politics' with the mayor office...in each season, there's also this evil figure personnified by Omar Little and an icone from all the crap, Bubbles.

This TV Show is a true picutre of all the society's vicissitudes. Everything is shown without any bias, in a very objective way. The spectator tends to hate and love every character : there are complete assholes for most of them but we don't like see them being killed or risking there lives.

The Wire is all about the compexity of life and the complexity of the society. Everyone is struggling for existence or even life.
